Silhouettes.

Between 2024 and early 2025, silhouettes became a recurring theme in my photography, influenced in part by the work of Ovidiu Selaru. His patient approach to light, how he waits for it and shapes each frame, changed the way I shoot.

Silhouettes resonate both visually and emotionally. The contrast between a dark subject and a bright background draws the eye, while the lack of detail turns the figure into something universal and open to interpretation.

They rely on negative space and simple form. Without facial detail, mood is conveyed through shape, posture, and light, creating a sense of ambiguity that I find compelling.

Photographers like Ovidiu Selaru, Phil Penman, Mark Fernley, and Ando Fuchs use silhouettes to evoke nostalgia and quiet drama. That subtle emotional pull is what makes them such an essential part of my visual language.
