Got caught up in family routines and traditions for the Tet holiday, so I haven’t had much free time to take photos yet. But here are a few shots from New Year’s Eve. 1. A vegetable stall. Mum and I bought some water spinach because I always complain about how expensive it is in England. 2. The New Year’s Eve offering tray set out in the front yard. The ceremony, formally called the Trừ Tịch ritual, literally means “the night of transition.” 3. A toy shop on regular days, but during Tết it switches to selling decorative lanterns. 4. After the fireworks (set off by locals), the street was still thick with smoke. 5. A sidewalk drink stall packed with people. Two cups of sugarcane juice cost 25,000 VND, not even a pound. Meanwhile, at Portobello Market, one cup sells for £5 or £6. 6. Peace Square. Celebrating the Year of the Bính Ngọ. #street_macadam #mystreet_bnw #lensculture #therawsociety #collagewise
