On Margate Sands

A last-minute trip to the Kent seaside town of Margate, once described by John Keats in an 1817 letter to Leigh Hunt as a “treeless affair.” For me, the absence of trees isn’t a drawback. Margate feels like a blend of nostalgic seaside charm and modern creative energy, with golden beaches, the iconic Dreamland Margate, and a lively Old Town full of vintage shops, indie cafés, and small boutiques.

The day ended with a beautiful sunset on the sand, watching people soak up the last light. Nothing extraordinary, just a quiet reminder of why I’m drawn to coastal places—people relax, drop their guard, and simply exist in the moment.
