It really is true: if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Warm-up | Since Georgia was dealing with a heatstroke, Yuck performed as a four-piece for the first time, debuting their new work in the UK, titled "Deadset."

Jessica, Hannah, Shona, and Brooke were rehearsing backstage behind the Spiegeltent when I first met them. They welcomed me right away and put me at ease before my nerves could get the better of me. Before starting to photograph them, I wandered around their dressing room to give them some time to adjust to having a stranger in their space.

Rehearsal | Around 30 minutes before showtime, the girls did a final run-through with the event staff. After a quick touch-up, they swiftly transported all the props and costumes to the Spiegeltent.

This was a crucial part of the night for me—it might be the only chance I had to get close to the stage before the show officially started and the audience filled the space. I knew that once the performance began, my 24-70mm lens wouldn’t be enough to capture tight shots of them from a distance.

Showtime | The tent filled quickly with eager guests, and the hour-long performance flew by as the girls had everyone roaring with “shocking” laughter. Unlike any circus I’ve seen before—outrageously funny and unforgettable.

Of all the artists set to perform at the Milton Keynes International Festival, Yuck immediately stood out to me. Their socials radiate an unfiltered, refreshing energy that feels rare—and exactly what this city needs more of. It deserves to be captured, and I knew I had to be the one behind the lens.
